Collection records

How to document a sports card collection for insurance.

Build dated records that show what you own, where it is stored, and how you reached each value estimate.

An insurance record is stronger when it identifies individual high-value cards instead of listing only a collection total. Keep photos, purchase evidence, condition notes, and dated market research together.

Record the card identity

Include player, sport, year, manufacturer, product, card number, parallel, serial number, autograph or memorabilia status, and raw or graded condition.

Add visual evidence

Photograph the front and back of valuable cards, plus the holder or grading label when applicable. Keep original purchase receipts and invoices when available.

Record value and date

Note whether the number is based on a sold comp, an estimate, or an appraisal. Market values change, so include the research date and update important cards periodically.

Export and store copies

CardsKnow can organize saved scans into collections and export collection information as a PDF on Android. Keep a copy in a secure location and ask your insurer what documentation it requires.
